Funny Assignment

Step 2

For our assignment we made 2 comics are both comedies of ideas. More specifically the first comic is a form of satire which is a parody. The second comic is also a form of satire and it is exaggeration. The first comic is a parody or satire because it shows what different people think about us Collingwood guys and it all isn't true. It is from different people's perspective and what they think of us. By making this comic it should change how people think about us and how we actually are.

The second comic is in the form of satire exaggeration. This is because in the comic it's saying that kids these days want phones really often. When in fact we don't get new phones that often, also it’s saying that we like our things in perfect shape. When it says "What do u mean it has scratch" indicates in the comic when we over exaggerate the fact like everything in perfect shape. This is exaggerating the fact that everything doesn't have to be perfect.

I think our creations were funny but not burst out laughing funny. I think it's partly because we were the ones who came up with it. Which means it was pretty funny for us at the start but by the time we went over a few times it got a lot less funny. For people who see these comics for the first time I think they will be decently funny for them but still nothing drastic.

Step 3

Personally I found the experience of trying to make something funny quite difficult. I think this is because I’ve never done anything like this and it was hard to think of an idea that was original. I found finding what the people should say quite difficult because it is hard for me to incorporate the idea of the types of funny into it. The part that I found the easiest part was once we figured out how we were going to the comic we just did it all quite quickly. Also I found finding the exact picture we needed was quite easy too because they were most of the pictures that people use for their own comics.

Funny Book Assignment

Brian Lee
What type of Humor is your book?
The book schooled is the type of humor comedy of ideas. In this book there is a boy named Capricorn Anderson, Cap for short and he is from Garland farm. When his grandmother fell of a tree and severely injured herself, Cap’s new life began. While his grandmother Rain was in the hospital he had to live with Floramundi Donelly. At his new school he was a nobody, the guy who got bullied non-stop. He was later elected president of the 8th grade by the cool kids of the school Zach Powers and his crew. Zach tried to break him down like he did with all the former presidents. Zach played tricks like sticking dead birds in Cap’s locker and stealing his shoes while he was meditating. One day on the bus the driver passed out and everyone was in shock, except Cap he hopped into the driver’s seat and he drove the bus to the hospital. He was now the new the biggest kid in the school. This is Comedy of ideas and more specifically satire. It is satire because at the start of the book he was the biggest loser ever and no one talked to him. By the end he became a legend. This type of satire is reversal.
Did you find your book funny?
I found at times that this book was funny. I found that the parts when Cap didn’t understand some of the modern concepts quite funny because everyone these day know everything about everything modern. Since he was so isolated on the farm he didn’t even know about some of the events they had since the old times. For example Cap didn’t even know what a dance was or what happens at a dance. He was the 8th grade president and didn’t even know what a dance was, yet he had to set up the whole school dance.

3rd Satire Blog Post

The trailer for the movie the Dictator is satire because it is exaggerating the fact that the guy is from Saudi Arabia. Also it exaggerates the fact that he is rich and he is really different form everyone else. I think this was funny because it was visual along with a audio comedy which I find hearing and seeing things are often more funny than if I read something.

The article Workplace Productivity Falling is satire because it exaggerates the fact that people are starting to becoming very lazy and are starting to stop working. This isn't as funny as the trailer because it is a article. So it is something you read. I find things that you read not as funny.

Second Satire Blog Post

Soon after the tsunami hit Japan, the tectonic plates were ready to slip again. the plates were ready and almost they were slipping off. The tectonic plates were ready to slip and kill another 20,000 people. Japan likes their earthquakes they even manage to have them almost yearly. Them tsunamis are really fun too they are the best part of all they happen right after the earthquake happens.

First Satire Blog Post

The article "Hundreds Of Horrified Onlookers Gather Wreckage Of Area Man" is Satire because it exaggerates the fact that the man is out of control with a drinking problem Also that he is lost control of his life after he started drinking. The man took wrong turns and ended up "falling apart". His life was a disaster and it shows how you life could just fall apart if you make a few simple mistakes.

The test results were in, everyone very successful so far until, the smart Asian kid in the class received his test. He took a look a B OH NO!!! The Asian boy was disappointed and he was worried about what would happen if his parents find.

What is Funny?

I believe that funny is an unexpected event that may affect someone in a good or bad way.  Funny could also be an ironic situation. Also I think that funny could be a situation where someone could be falling or when someone is just doing something extremley stupid. Funny is often something that brings lots of joy to someone.
